Other than a one-month display of artist's works in 1906 at the Oehme Galleries in NYC, this masterpiece by Alphonse Jongers has never been on public display. It hung in the NYC residence of Benjamin Guggenheim until 1926 when it was gifted to (then) Randolph Macon Woman's College by Mrs. Benjamin Guggenheim. It has languished in storage since then and ownership was transferred to Mark Wittl/Virginia Art Conservation and Restoration, LLC in exchange for conservation work to other paintings in the collection of the Maier Museum.

The painting has undergone a conservative conservation treatment to ensure its viability for generations to come and is now proudly on loan to Faith Christian School in Roanoke, VA.
