This breathtaking portrait of
the actress Merle Oberon (Wuthering Heights), was painted for Ms.
Oberon
by C.D. Williams in the mid-1930's. Williams was a listed New York City
artist primarily known for his Saturday Evening Post
illustrations. When I acquired
this painting for my personal collection, the painting was dirty and suffering from
cupping and loose paint. The
only effective restoration method was a lining that was done with a Beva
371 adhesive, a special polyester relining material with an additional
linen backing for strength. |
